the country

we are so lucky to have this spot to run off to.  it was refreshing to be out of cell service range and away from all everyday life for a little while.  one day we took a walk in the woods and came up on a nest of about twenty deer.  we crouched down real low and watched them for a while until they spotted us and took off.  and thank you tara-lynn for keeping me warm all week with the knit cambridge cowl.

i'm hoping you guys didn't completely forget about me because it feels like i've been gone from the internet for a very long time.  its good to get back into the swing of things and look at these red shoes i found!  they are so perfectly wierd.  more details later about my vacation and photos too.  synopsis: it was wonderful except for a case of food posioning that i got.

1950s black velvet taffeta dress: vintage saks fifth ave thrifted at oonas 

here is the dress that stole my heart.  its funny because i saw it hanging perfectly on the rack but i passed it by because the price tag was a little more than i care to spend on any one dress.  i was being good and not even looking at clothes for myself but then the girl working brought it over to me and casually suggested that i try it on.  of course it fit me exactly right and as soon as i zipped it up i was sold.  i still haven't gotten a chance to really wear it, outside of my apartment i mean, but i'm planning on wearing it next week on our vacation!  i'm catching the bus to new york tonight and then bright and early tomorow morning we're off to long island.  i won't have my computer, and even my cell phone doesn't get reception where we'll be, but i'm so excited to be isolated in a cabin with my boyfriend for five days.  caroline will be here keeping up with the store and shipping, but there won't be any updates until i get back.  happy valentine's day friends, see you in a week!

look at these drawings! i can't tell you how much it brightened my day to see these on her blog this morning.  girl's got some serious talent up her sleeve and i'm so honored that she picked a few of my outfit pictures as inspiration.  thank you friend!  and then today i found the most perfect 1950s black velvet taffeta birthday dress.  my birthday is on saturday! i will be twenty-five so i guess i'm kind of old now.  but its okay i'm looking forward to the second half of my twenties.  the first half left a lot to be desired.  i'm not doing much in the way of celebrating but next monday leonard and i are off to long island for the entire week!   we get to celebrate my birthday, valentines day, and his birthday all at once.  i have only been in love 3 times and they were all aquarius dudes born within the first two weeks of february.  sometimes i kind of believe in astrology.  i received The Beautiful Blog Award from Lo and the Creative Blogger Award from Lisa.
