i found this sweater on a thrifting trip for the store and didn't realize until i got home that it was only barely held together by a few safety pins.   i know that most people would consider that a dealbreaker, but luckily that is my favorite kind of thrift store find so i was happy to adopt it as my own.  and just in time because the weather in new hampshire last week was a million degrees colder than it's been in boston.  i think that my southern heritage means that i will never get used to the winters up here.  every year it comes back around and feels like a punch in the face.  but this sweater was quite a hit over the weekend and i think everyone tried it on at least once (it looks best on leonard).  and i have to say that braving the cold country was worth it because i got to have two thanksgiving dinners.  one on thursday with the usual comfort foods and then another on saturday where leonard made a feast of pot roast,  brussel sprouts,  acorn squash, asparagus, and twice baked potatoes for his whole family.  the only thing better than one thanksgiving is two of them!

while i should be packing for the holiday weekend, im wasting time on the internet.  c'est la vie.  im excited though, thanksgiving is forever my favorite.  there's almost nothing better than turkey and pumpkin pie and falling asleep on the couch for four days.  happy happy holidays!

a new hairdo

my job rules.  for example today they crimped my whole head of hair.  i got some funny looks on the way home and two people have already remarked on my likeness to a poodle but who cares.  i didn't even know my hair could do this!   also go see my guest post on dulcie's blog Human sea.  she does an awesome literary looks series and i couldn't resist doing my own version of what hadley hemingway would've worn.

once a year, usually in the fall, i try to wear lipstick.  i mostly stay away from makeup because i never really learned how to put it on properly and also im lazy.  but in this case, caroline has a chanel lipstick she got while we were in paris so i figured i couldnt go too wrong.  maybe i'll become a real young lady now and start wearing it all the time.  yesterday was the first day in many months that caroline and i had the whole day off at the same time and we took advantage of it by stuffing 3 months of girltalk into 24 hours.  my favorite kind of day.

i was being very good when i bought this black top for the store and not for myself but i will say that i haven't been able to wear anything else for the past three days.  a girl can always talk herself into keeping another something black, right?  yesterday leonard and i went on a thrifting adventure to the country and three trash bags full of clothes later i came home happy and exhausted.  i'll be putting a good chunk of that loot up on etsy tonight, so keep your eyes peeled over there to see what we found!
