the wild lily of the cumberland

i'm reading zelda fitgerald's biography right now and it's pretty awesome.  i mean her mother's nickname was the wild lily of the cumberland.  how wonderful is that?  i'm still only in her childhood years, but i can't wait to read about her marriage and her mysterious death by fire in an insane asylum.   i've been starting and stopping books recently, or maybe i've just been reading sub-par books.  i have high hopes for zelda, but have you guys read anything mind blowing lately?

all i've been reading lately are book assigned for silly college classes. they are not good books.

i really love this outfit, especially the little peek of striped socks!

Gorgeous outfit!! I adore your pants and shoes.

Are you in the north end? I lived in Boston for almost two years and then Marblehead for four. That spot looks very familiar.

I want a beautiful nickname like that. How wonderful.

you have the greatest selection of pants! makes me want to throw away all my skirts for the winter.

i was reading "flappers"by joshua zeitz, and for much of the book focuses on zelda and scott fitzgerald...what a facinating couple!

Howard's End, which I like a lot, and I tend to post booklists a fair amount: http://www.verhext.com/tag/books

I'm gathering up a wintery one now!

Death by fire in an insane asylum! Golly. I'll have to pick that one up.
This is super weird, but I have kind of an infatuation with insane asylums. Last year a few friends and I snuck into an abandoned one here in Milwaukee and I've never been so terrified and thrilled at the same time. The place was as big as 3 high schools put together and clearly hadn't been touched since the 50's at least, besides all the graffiti. Anyway, I've been watching a lot of Girl Interrupted since then.

You should read "the women's room" by marilyn french. It's on my top 5of all time list, I've never felt so connected with a storyline, ever.

Kennedy,
If you haven't read it yet, I think you'd really like "Slouching Towards Bethlehem," a collection of short stories by Joan Didion.

Maybe I'll see you in Charleston over the holidays?

Love,
Anna Kate

Oh God it sounds amazing! Why have I never read that book? It's been lying around in my parents home for ages! I've been really into Kafka lately, he was such a genius!
By the way I'm completely in love with your shoes.

I need to start actually reading again. I really like short stories.

BTW, those shoes are amazing, and I love the way you look in high-waisted skinny pants. The background of your photos is just beautiful!

This outfit is so so good. How do you look so cute and perfect all the freaking time?! Oh yes, and those blue and brown oxfords are heavenly - I will dream about them tonight.

All I've been reading this year are textbooks and more textbooks. But my last paper is due today for the semester and I can't wait to hit the recreational books. I have a stack that's just waiting for me.

Stunning! You look incredible! I love the jacket soooo much :)

I read (mst of, mean library, slow me hehe) Force of Circumstance lately, and it was great. And a 1935 book on beauty which is awesome!

The book you're reading sounds terribly interesting to me.

If you want something super easy to get into but thoughtful and interesting, I highly recommend "The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox" by Maggie O'Farrell. Also, try anything by Louise Erdrich, but most notable (to me) is "The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse." If you're more interested in non-fiction, definitely read Audre Lorde's biography (biomythography), "Zami: A New Spelling of my Name." Tell me if you've read any/all of these already!

Also, I HAD to post one of these outfit shots (the one of your feet) on my tumblr. Too, too good.
