thinking of things i dont have

floral button up: french connection thrifted
cream ribbon: from the etsy package i received from caroline!
pink purse: thrifted
high waist jeans: urban outfitters
cream spectators: thrifted

this weekend is the first weekend in a long string of weekends that leonard is not coming to visit me.  i have forgotten what to do with myself on a day off without him.  theres always the internet and bad tv and cat naps, but right now none of that is cutting it.  also i think ive hit the winter wardrobe block.  times like these i wish i still lived in the south where winter is this mild little thing and you can wear shorts and tights year round!  the grass is always greener but if you live in the south or if you live in the same city as your boyfriend i am jealous.  okay so maybe im just in a negative nancy mood.

I did the long distance thing with my boyfriend for awhile and man, is it tough! Just hang in there, it gets easier!
On a happier note, you look positively lovely in these photos!

Living in the south has gotten mighty cold, I promise. Cold for the south, anyway.
When I'm in a mood like that, I just embrace it. Be nasty for a little while, watch an incredibly sad movie, and then just let it go. I feel terrible and moody for a bit, and then I feel that much better when I decide it's over. :)

your outfit is so cute, love those jeans on you! I'm sorry about your boyfriend :( I know how it feels half the time, I go to school with mine but during breaks/the summer I rarely see him!

I live in the south. And the same city as my boyfriend.

BUT I am jealous of those pretty long locks of yours.

Hang in there. I know it is easier said than done. but you have to remain strong and chin up, no matter what. Try not to think of things you don't have because it will only makes matter worse. I think in life there is a solution to everything. Hang in there and time will tell. The grass seems always greener elsewhere but sometimes it is only a facade. Nobody knows exactly what people went through in their life or what they are doing through although on the outside it all seems perfect that is why I don't envy people. When I went through some tough times in my life, I always try to find a solution and keep working at it. Every individual have their own life. I can be very philosophical. I hope this is not overwhelming. I am writing this because I can relate as at 25 years old, I started my life over in a new country, speaking only the English that I have learned at school. Everything was new and challenging but I have no choice I thought in my head. Anyway, hang in there, everything will work out for you.

I forgot to mention that I love your outfit. It is very Jane Birkin to me but you were it with your own style. It is very chic and unique. It is cold here in New York maybe not as cold as where you live. I can't wait for the month of January and February to be over. I found them to be the hardest for me. Cheers!! Have a good week!!

Aww! I am sorry that you are missing your boyfriend. How far away does he live?

I have a severe case of the wardrobe blahs too right now. You certainly don't look like you do though...you look gorgeous!

Those jeans are gorgeous. I am sorry you are far away from your boyfriend. I don't know what I will do for the month I am in Belgium.

So amazing Kennedy!! Your high waist jeans with the braided detail are probably the coolest jeans I've ever seen. The floral top is so beautiful, too. And of course, I love the backdrop.

One time my boyfriend went to the country for a week and I felt like that too... It wasweird to be on my own.. I was left with my craft/ crochet projects and it reminded me of a time when I didn't have him. maybe try cooking? Hehe

oh thank you! I must look out for those ingredients to make cheese grits next time I go to the supermarket :) sounds delish

Love the floral button up with those jeans! I can never pull off high-waisted but you do it so effortlessly.

I'm sorry your boyfriend isn't with your right now :( Patrick and I have very different schedules most semesters in school, so our time together is definitely cut short.. I was even in tears at work the other day because I missed him! I hate it when people say this, but it is true.. absence makes the heart grow fonder! It makes time together so much more worth it.

Now to the outfit! You are rocking it out in those high waist jeans girl! Jealous you can pull those off, you have the body for it! Ugh, I know what you mean about winter. We've been lucky that the past week has been in the 50s and 60s, but it's so challenging when it's freezing and you have to layer, layer, layer, or be miserable!

i am doing an outfit post with my new high waisted jeans from urban too! my husband and i were long distance the first couple years we dated so i can totally sympathize. on the positive side, you get so excited to see each other and it is like one long super date. i completely agree about the cold north though, it pretty much sucks right now.

Love this outfit - you rock those pants. haha

P.S. me and my now boyfriend had a long distance friendship/relationship the entire time I was in college - 4 years! It was tough but I read you saying that you don't take each other for granted and that is what makes it work - even though we live together now we don't spend 24/7 together but sometimes will spend days and days together. And we laugh. that is the best. =)

yeah, normally i whine about charleston lacking seasons, but since i've been craving spring the past few days it's been nice to be here. oh and sorry to be rubbing it all in and everything.

i guess the old adage about dressing for the job you want can apply to weather too. florals in winter! make it feel a little more spring like.

Thanks!! I'm telling you - next time you're in Macys or Dillards go by the Chanel counter and ask to see of the colors. They make the most amazing shades! The color I got was a dark brown and yes they do make purple - M got herself that shade in december but you should take a look, they have something for every skin tone!

I understand exactly how you feel. I have moved to New York after growing up in the south, and the winter wardrobe block is a terrible place to be in. I love the southern winters, and hate having to try and be so warm!

Jimena said...

I know what you mean... Although summer has just started here and I'm already longing for winter and hats and afternoons spent reading in bed and colourful tights.

ohh... and you are making me wish i had long hair.

Oh, I really feel for you. I couldnt stand it if I didnt live with my boyfriend and see him every day, let alone have to live in a different city. That must be so hard. I suppose that you treasure every moment you get together and make every time you see him memorable. Me and my boyfriend are currently sat on separate sofas, in our own little virtual worlds, not really appreciating each other!
As for living in the south, I would love to love somewhere where it never gets cold. And doesn't rain almost every day. And the whole country doesn't go to a complete stand sill if it snows a little bit! Living in the North of England, we don't get the best weather. xxx
ps what is the link to your formspring?

it's so hard not to have your partner around, and not being able to spend time together.
my husband has been working out of town for almost 6 months. he still comes home on the weekend, but still... but I kinda got used to it, and having lots of me-time(whenever my one year old lets me) is totally awesome! now I think about how it is going to be when he is back home full-time... :P

Hang on in there with the long distance relationship. I did it with my boyf and in the end, I made the big move to live with him in his town.

I love those jeans a bit too much!!!

I am absolutely feeling the same way about the winter fashion block- totally uninspired and blahhhhhh. Trying not to wish the season away, but I could really go for some floral dresses and minimum cover-ups right about now! I love the jeans you're wearing here, reminds me of a pair my mom used to have!

I live in Manchester and my boyfriend lives in London (England) while we are both at university so we are literally at opposite ends of the same country. Still, we've done nearly two years and so only one more to go 'til I can, hopefully, move in with him. Hang in there! :) xx
