a bug in a rug

 photos by leonard
(vintage sweater, aa size zipper pants)

i found this sweater on a thrifting trip for the store and didn't realize until i got home that it was only barely held together by a few safety pins.   i know that most people would consider that a dealbreaker, but luckily that is my favorite kind of thrift store find so i was happy to adopt it as my own.  and just in time because the weather in new hampshire last week was a million degrees colder than it's been in boston.  i think that my southern heritage means that i will never get used to the winters up here.  every year it comes back around and feels like a punch in the face.  but this sweater was quite a hit over the weekend and i think everyone tried it on at least once (it looks best on leonard).  and i have to say that braving the cold country was worth it because i got to have two thanksgiving dinners.  one on thursday with the usual comfort foods and then another on saturday where leonard made a feast of pot roast,  brussel sprouts,  acorn squash, asparagus, and twice baked potatoes for his whole family.  the only thing better than one thanksgiving is two of them!

brussels sprouts, asparagus, and twice-baked potatoes are some of my all time favorite foods! Sounds like quite a gastronomic delight :)

I love your sweater, too... It looks mad cozy! And wearing something held together by safety pins is kind of fun--live life on the edge!

i am happy to report that i wore something similar today. not to steal your style, which is unique of course - but it's close and it's kinda nice to know that i'm not out to lunch in my nice big ol' sweater! :)

you look lovely.

Oh wow! These are beautiful photos! I have to agree with you as my favourite finds are all falling apart (makes me so glad I don't have to think about putting them in the shop) I'm keeping my eye out for one of those too! My friend found one and I was so envious!

Those pants are amazing! Also, I love that sweater! I have a similar story about a coat i got for $1. It looks like a comforter and is literally being held together at the bottom by safety pins. I absolutely love it, though!

Yay, wrecked thrifted items are my favorite type too! That way I can justify keeping them instead of putting them in the shop. Also that way I'm less afraid of ruining something.

Love your blog and your shop and your great eye! xo
