a basket of shoes

i wanted to do a post to bring this blog back to its roots. which of course means self portraits of me in my bedroom accompanied by anecdotes about how weird i am!  so i have this giant basket that's filled with my shoes.  i mostly don't wear them because, by and large, they're all broken or breaking.  i have never in my life gone to a cobbler but i'm still convinced that ONE DAY i will get them all fixed.  also i wanted to show you a picture of  my most prized possession.  the gold lettering on the insides is all but disappeared from a previous owner's wear but they are still Chanel.  sadly they fall into the "never been worn" category because i'm terrified of breaking them.  i don't even consider myself to be a shoe gal but i'm always wishing i had more and i'm always buying new ones.  what is it with girls and their shoes?

i never consider myself a shoe gal, i try and keep my collection around 15 pairs. but i always seem to covet new ones. there is something about it. i'll have an outfit ready to go and then i'll think, 'but what if i had those shoes,,,,' oh well. i love these pics :)

haha i too have a large collection of broken shoes that i can't seem to get rid of. i do often try to get mine fixed but it's been my experience that once they've broken they are never the same and don't stay fixed very long.

the chanel's are beautiful. i have a prized vintage dior slip that i have never worn because i'm scared i'll tear it.

Love this post! I have a fair sized collection and there may be a couple that I have never worn. But there are always new styles that I want to try. You seem to have lots of beautiful pairs.
XOXO

I know the feeling, just bought three new pairs last week... I haven't got any space left in my room to put them all ^^

haha! I don't know...I've resorted to displaying my most un-sensible shoes around my living room as decor.

Please please please take your shoes to the cobbler! It's so worth it. I've been able to hang onto my best thrift finds for years now by investing that extra 20 dollars or so to make them last...

cobbler's are THE BOMB. i have been pleasantly surprised by their expertise on so many occasions... especially with really well made vintage shoes that just need a few things fixed. it's the well made shoes that are worth fixing up! PS your collection looks INCREDIBLE.

Oh hell yeah those channels would have stolen my heart too. Its so hard to wear those precious pairs on their last legs. I've been to the cobbler a bunch, sometimes it feels silly spending more on repair than on the thrifted pair them self.

Lovely photos!
And lady you have a lot of shoes! ;) haha. I tend to wear mine to death - like beyond repair and then I have to throw them out.

These are my favourite sort of posts; effortlessly beautiful and full of intimacy. And the basket is such a clever idea for shoes! xx
