this time of year

photos by leonard
(vintage yellow coat, vintage polka dot blouse, american apparel skirt, american apparel tights, sam edelman clogs)

i've broken down and bought myself a pair of clogs, although i may have dangerously misjudged my ability to wear heels.  i do alright when it comes to baby heels and platforms but these are very much "high heels" and in one small outing i managed to almost sprain my ankle three times.  in conclusion, the new shoes aren't exactly what you'd call a practical purchase.  they can't all be, right?

i've been keeping busy running to and from the post office and thinking up gifts for my friends and loved ones.  i know the holiday season has just begun but i always find that once thanksgiving hits time seems to speed up and all of a sudden it's over and done with.  but before that happens and in the spirit of good will, im planning a giveaway for one of my readers!  it's still in the brainstorm phase right now but im hoping to get it up on the blog next week before we're all tuckered out from un-wrapping presents, drinking egg nog, and singing christmas carols.

I LOVE that skirt. I feel the same way about Christmas, too! I have almost all my shopping done, and I just don't feel in the season quite yet. I hope it doesn't pass me by!

And I'm excited for the giveaway!

You look beautiful! I thrifted a blouse with the exact same colouring yesterday and have been searching high and low for a skirt like that too!

Oh! I saw your comment and don't worry about comissioning it. I could make you one for free if you like :D (I'm still trying to master the craft so it would be good practice!)Here's my email if you want it alittlebrightervintage@gmail.com

The way you mix pieces always intrigues me, Kennedy!! I wish I had the knack.

Oh, clogs you dangerous things. When I first bought mine I rolled my ankle four times in one shoot! I hardly ever wear them out except for blog posts. Kind of sad since they're so pretty.

Love all the colors thats going on here! I need your polka dot blouse urgently! Looks like a piece to wear 24hrs a day ;)

Yea heels are a bit of a pain. But i find 'tights and heels' combo way more aweful. A brain-draining concoction!

love the clogs, kennedy. though, do be careful. i was wearing my madewell ones the other day and managed to stumble down the stairs at work. got a nice little gouge on the wood side part. luckily, i didn't sprain my ankle....hold onto those handrails!

happy holidays!

You look gorgeous! And, despite how much everyone claims that clogs are comfy, they look like a disaster waiting to happen. Inflexible, tall shoes = tipping over like crazy.

Great outfit, you look lovely! I wouldn't risk wearing such high clogs, but then again I'm a clutz when it comes to heels. I've just been reading a book about shoe design - apparently clogs were originally a practical item of footwear (!) because they kept your clothing from dragging in the mud.

beautiful coat..love the perspective in the top photo.

Your clogs are so adorable.

I love your outfit, especially your coat. It looks so warm!

And good luck with the clogs. I can barely walk in baby heels half the time, so I can only imagine how dangerous it'd be to walk in those!

Hi! I actually really want to purchase the skirt that you have on! The one from AA, and I went to the store and I saw that the sizes that they have are Xs, s, and m/l. I don't know if I should get the s or the m/l and I know that it has the elastic in the back. I was wondering, if this isn't too personal but which size is your skirt? I am about the same size as you, I think.
